We come up with different notions about a world that has never existed… and the real one, that has, has not existed… Because we weren’t alive yet, so we cannot objectively evaluate it… but, it could always be worse, we do not need to have an opinion on everything, right? If we need to make one, the best way is to go online, there is everything there, literally! We suddenly find ourselves living in a bubble where 100 – Thursday = 16, the Earth is flat and Galileo and Copernicus were madmen, fatal diseases can be cured with baking soda, the dove of peace is suddenly just a lost symbol and actual war conflicts are “just” deepfakes and there are only “better” people and sheep out there. Dehumanisation broadcasted live, supported by the absence of critical thinking and polarised society threatened by hybrid wars, is our everyday reality.

The Untitled Exhibition is by no means a prescriptive guide nor a solution to modern dangers our society faces and John Valaška with his family try to deal with. The exhibition is a comically sad or sadly comical reminder we should never forget our love for HUMANity.

We tell stories, fairytales… We all have an opinion, we all know better, what is hidden beneath the surface, “because we know”. Through various illusions we keep telling ourselves that everything is and will be bad, we tend to generalise very easily, we are no longer interested in the truth, our anger and frustrations make us deny the basic principles of logical thinking. We do not trust authorities, whether they are teachers, doctors, professors, scientists… We have started to separate ourselves, withdraw, break up families, even our own ones. We trust ourselves just as much as we do not, we keep telling ourselves things about ourselves as well as others, everything is just “easy” and it is hard to admit that the world has become a complicated place. We do not have time to think/contemplate because we are frustrated and fed with self-delusions. Everything will fall, but there is no solution because we keep supporting our traumatic hopelessness, however, “fortunately”, it is not our fault. We despise other people and have no interest in changing ourselves. We keep complaining about polarisation while supporting it at the same time. We do not like our rudeness, yet we keep being rude. We do not like hopelessness, yet we keep feeding it. What is the recipe for a functional society, today?
