The exhibition has been supported using public funds provided by Slovak Arts Council. The Council is the leading partner of the project.

Their approach can be described as holistic, nonetheless, without alternative connotations. It means that the whole is more important than its parts, the act of collaboration is in the fore more than the individual contribution. The collective usage of the air-raid shelter, its protective function, acoustic and spatial characteristics became the starting point of thinking about the development of its communicative potential.

The installation has the ambition to explore the ambivalent relationship of the inside and outside, to question the established physical borders due to acoustic and visual disturbances. Crucial is the sensory experience of the space – of its claustrophobic qualities, its cold, humid and dark environment that is not ideal for living, but is just a temporary refuge. At the same time, we can have goose bumps from the possible scenarios, in which the bodies become tools, leave traces, tell stories in a nutshell of the historical layers – either as archetypal cave connotations or as a civil warning announced by sirens with unpredictable consequences.

The artists transform the state of emergency of temporary collaboration to unfold its creative possibilities. They offer a poetic commentary with the help of light, painting or sound intervention to the brutalist space whose core contains an intricate structure. They mediate the touch with the surfaces and materials that vividly affect the personal space of the visitors and challenge them to be more sensitive towards the perception of possibilities and limits of a physical, social and cultural space within the state of emergency.
