Let’s Dance

This full-color, 32 page, Slovak-English catalog documents the exhibition Let’s Dance by the artistic duo JC Mountain Schmied (Juliana Irene Smith – an American living in Switzerland and Swiss born Claudia Berg) that took place at the Youth Gallery of the Nitra Gallery from June 20 until September 8, 2013.

The aim of the exhibition project curated by Omar Mirza was to examine the ambiguous meaning of the word “movement” as both a physical and a political phenomenon. The artists asked questions what motivates people to move, to perform an action and to be organized on the basis of common opinions? Where do these movements lead and what do they achieve locally and globally?

The works were created directly for the premises of the Youth Gallery. The artists included topical social and political themes in their installations, videos, animations, photography, and aquarelles. These topics did not only deal with problems in Switzerland and Slovakia, but also in the whole globalized world.

Included in the catalog is a DVD with three videos presented at the exhibition.
