Bed (from the cycle 3D/4D)

Blažo realizes his diverse and rich artwork in various media, such as photography, painting, pc graphic, object or installation. His works are typical for their individual sense of humour and irony, childlike playfullness, unique poetics, creation of absurd situations and game with perception of the viewer. Blažo shifts everyday objects into new and often unexpected meanings and coherency which work according to the author´s specific rules and therefore the ureal worlds can be perceived as real ones.

The object Bed from the cycle 3D/4D is constructed from the bed frame. The part designed for lying in is covered by a photography. In one part of the image we can observe a descending staircase. It creates an illusion of depth and space and we have a dizzy feeling when looking down. The stairrail produces an effect as going from the bed frame making this illusion more vivid. In the other part of the picture there is a floor from which we are looking down the staircase and there is embedded a model of a little paper house. Its roof and walls are upside down and it acts unnaturally and two dimensionally. The author uses an optical illusion and plays with viewer´s perception and his/her common understanding of the surface and space. The surface becomes in our perception a three dimensional space and vice versa, the space functions as the surface.
