Homunculs, Eyepods, Longnoses, Gryfs, Thumblogoids, Mutants vs. Abies, Juniperus, Corylus, Larix, Picea, Taxus. What would happen if the creatures from Baron’s works visited a botanical garden? Would they resort to mimicry and get lost in a herb bed or, on the contrary, stick out from the grass? Would we be able to recognise these patchworks of human, zoomorphic and vegetational elements among other fauna and flora or would they escape our attention forever? The main creative activity will consist of creating aquarelle creatures inspired by Karol Baron’s surrealistic work.

When Adolphe Sax constructed the saxophone in 1842, an important part of the concept was to create an instrument that would serve as a kind of a unifying element of the symphonic orchestra, uniting string and wind instruments. The main goal of the concert’s concept was to emphasise this main idea of the inventor of the saxophone – the saxophone sound’s flexibility of being able to join the piano and violin. We will take a look at the world of classical music, famous, but also unjustly forgotten composers of the 20th and 21st centuries. Ladislav Fančovič is a renown representative of European interpretative arts and he is also one of the most versatile artists on the Czech and Slovak music scenes. He studied at the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague (M. Lapšanský) and then he received his doctoral degree at AFAD in Bratislava. He has been a finalist and laureate of various national and international competitions.

Dream and Cyanotype
a workshop with the photographer Ema Lančaričová

Registration: pedagog@nitrianskagaleria.sk

The workshop will showcase a unique historic photography technique called cyanotype. It is also commonly referred to as photographic blueprint. By reducing the colour range to white and blue, you will be able to create dream compositions. It will be based on using different unconventional materials in the process, like salt. We will apply the solution to paper or canvas of your own choice. After a short demonstration, you will have plenty of material available for experimenting and realisation, under professional supervision, of course. At the end, you will be able to take with you your unique, handmade prints.
