Nitra Gallery’s Bunker is to host a traditional exhibition of artworks created by students at the Department of Creative Arts and Art Education, Faculty of Education, Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra. This year’s exhibition project titled TA BOO BOO reflects upon various taboos present in both our personal lives and the society in general. The students explored the themes of fear, rejection and evasion of elements, processes and things in our lives. Their research summarised various personal phobias and characterised fear as a negative feeling of anxiety about potential danger or uncomfortable emotions. They thought about how to express a negative experience in an art form and how to deal with it and process it. Their works create an environment that offers the viewer an opportunity to perceive them as their own taboos that are a part of a broader social consciousness of the things we avoid.

All of the artworks respond to the Bunker’s premises and were created with its design in mind. The exhibition consists of various media such as interactive objects, site-specific material installations, graphics casts and constructed relief.

The experience of the TA BOO BOO exhibition is supposed to encourage the viewer to deliberate upon both our own personal and social themes that make us anxious and we have trouble coping with.
