Published to accompany the exhibition Tallová & Kvetan & Šakový, this catalogue of the same name features a curatorial essay, interviews with the artists conducted by the curator, brief biographies, and reproductions of the works on show, arranged into loose thematic groups.
The exhibition brings together the distinct artistic worlds of three artists, two men and one woman, who work in parallel but independently of one another, their paths sometimes crossing, sometimes converging, sometimes drifting apart. Together they offer three authentic viewpoints, each self-contained, singular in its own right, and driven by its own internal logic.
Although each artist works with different strategies, techniques and media rooted in their established practice, echoes and overlaps keep surfacing across their work. These shared threads come through not just as an intuitive affinity, but in atmosphere, energy and poetic charge, and in a kind of internal dialogue between the works through shared motifs, subject matter and references. What links the three is both lived and second-hand experience, shared bodily and psychological states, reflections on relationships between people, and a preoccupation with memory and time, past, present and future. Running through it all are the themes of fragility, transience, resilience and vitality.
The selection focuses on recent work by the three artists, mostly from the 2020s, with the earliest piece being Marek Kvetan’s object Big Plates (2016). Built from the interplay between the work of Lucia Tallová, Marek Kvetan and Adam Šakový, the exhibition traces out a fluid, permeable and boundary-crossing narrative.
