Nitra gallery has prepared interesting educational programme for primary schools. It was inspired by the educational project Take One Picture in National gallery in London.
The set of 10 coloured reproductions of Slovak art from different periods of the twentieth century was published for teachers at second level of primary schools. Each reproduction (size A4) contains the information about the piece of art and the author as well as the ideas and suggestions for the discussion and activities at the lesson. This set can be used as a teacher´s book or handbook of new ideas and inspiration at the art lessons and other subjects. The main idea of this programme is to bring the art into the class and show the teachers how to work with it. The programme worked to a climax with the shool exhibitions of works that were made according to the reproductions and activities written on the back of each reproduction and the exhibition in Nitra gallery.
The best children´s works were chosen by our curators and are displayed with original pictures that were used as reproductions at the lessons. The visitors can see children´s different reactions to them as well as the playful shifts of meaning in different techniques.
The original works shown at the exhibition are the property of Nitra gallery. The authors are the most important representatives of Slovak art of the twentieth century.
