Pictures from the studio

The Nitra Gallery has prepared the final exhibition Pictures from the Studio, which is the culmination of the educational project Art for Schools at the Nitra Gallery. This project, implemented in 2024 for the first time, offered primary and secondary school pupils a unique opportunity to engage in intensive art making, while getting to know the works of contemporary and non-living Slovak artists. 

Over the course of ten months, educational activities were held in the studios, exhibition spaces of the Nitra Gallery, and the outdoor environment of the historic County House. Gallery educators designed a comprehensive educational programme for pupils, featuring guided interpretations of works from a wide range of exhibitions, including The Forest Line, Love Like Everyone, (Don’t) Be Hypersensitive! Emotions in Art, Don’t Kill the Little Bird. O. D., Parallel Worlds, Family Matters, The World of Karol Baron, Tereza Darášová, Venus, Street, Palm, Bone…, (In)side, and Untitled Exhibition.

As part of the programme, forty-eight thematically focused workshops were conducted. Participants engaged with a broad spectrum of artistic techniques, such as watercolour painting, printmaking, drawing, cyanotype, spray painting, modelling, textile collage, and object creation—fostering both technical skills and creative expression.

The exhibition Pictures from the Studio presents the results of this months-long creative process driven by dedication and artistic enthusiasm. Visitors can admire a variety of artistic outputs that reflect the aesthetic sensibility of the young creators and their ability to transcend boundaries through art. The exhibition delivers a memorable experience, where visual art is thoughtfully interwoven with the imaginative reflections of the participating pupils.
