The Lotz Trio formation is named after the phenomenal instrument maker Theodor Lotz (1746–1792) who has become famous for perfecting the basset horn in Pressburg.
They regularly perform Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Terzetti on replicas of his historical basset horns, Divertissement pour Trois Cors de Bassett by Juraj Družecký and also period pieces from Mozart’s operas, The Magic Flute, The Marriage of Figaro and Don Giovanni. Their repertoire also features other pieces written for a trio of basset horns, like the clarinet virtuoso Anton Stadler’s Terzetto, Vojtěch Nudera’s divertimenti and Antonín Volánek’s trios.
