Educational Programs for Nezabíjajte vtáčika O. D. (Don’t Kill the Little Bird O.D.) Exhibition

Typical Kyano! – To start the creative workshop, we will view the Orest Dubay – Nezabíjajte vtáčika O. D. (Don’t Kill the Little Bird O.D.) exhibition with a guided tour. Afterward, during an art activity inspired by Orest Dubay’s work, we will create blue-and-white contact “photographs” using an old photographic technique. We will utilise various objects, our own stencils, or even photographs for this process.

The workshop approach is adapted to the number of students in the group and their grade level.

In Circles – After visiting Nezabíjajte vtáčika O. D. (Don’t Kill the Little Bird O.D.) exhibition, we will create folded paper objects inspired by Orest Dubay’s works, enhanced with tied batik.

White – Black – Each student will create a series of graphic prints inspired by the themes of Nezabíjajte vtáčika O. D. (Don’t Kill the Little Bird O.D.) exhibition, which will collectively form a simple story. At the end, students will present their graphic stories to the others.

Educational programs for the exhibition Untitled Exhibition

Mini Gallery – During our visit to the Nitra Gallery, we will explore the “Untitled Exhibition,” which features works from the Nitra Gallery’s collections from its inception to the present day. The lecturer will tell the children about the artworks on display and explain the meaning and function of a gallery. Afterward, we will move to the studio to create our own mini gallery using contemporary artworks from the exhibition

Portrait of an Era – Why do people visit galleries and look at paintings and sculptures? What can we learn from them? Can we discern from artworks how people lived in the past? What kind of clothes did they wear, where did they live, how did they work? What did children learn in school, or how did they play?

Joy – Sadness – How did people feel in the past? What did they experience? We will examine the artworks in the exhibition and collectively discover what people did in the past. We will reflect on whether they were happy or sad, and how artists captured these feelings in their works.

War and Peace – During this workshop, we will create colourful graffiti on canvas as an artistic message about war and peace. Using various stencils and coloured sprays, we will produce dynamic images that combine words (e.g., war, hope, peace) and symbols (of peace, destruction, sadness, anger). The workshop will allow students to express their own feelings and perceptions of war and peace.

Educational Programs for the “(In)side” Exhibition

From Nothing to Some(thing) – This art workshop is inspired by the “(In)side” exhibition, which we will visit first. We’ll discuss what architecture is, its various forms, and its significance to us. In the studio, we’ll create architectural objects from various, no-longer-needed items, inspired by the architects from the wo IvI en studio.
