6th International Culture Festival for People with Impaired Hearing in the Name of St. Francis de Sales in Nitra is a follow up of 1st International Symposium of Artists with Impaired Hearing in Nitra. The Symposium was organized and coordinated by the civic association EFFETA –The Centre of St. Francis de Sales in Nitra, an institution employing workers with impaired hearing. EFFETA is an organization that provides equal opportunities and assistance for people with impaired hearing to integrate them in everyday life. Its goal is to overcome the marginalization of people with impaired hearing. The general public, the majority without the impairment, does not realize that the community of people with impaired hearing can fight for their rights and overcome the communication barrier only with difficulties. At present EFFETA works in five specialized centres that focus on social, working, educational aspects of the community and their cultural and spiritual life. The mission of the organization is to create the bridge and integrate people with impaired hearing, to increase the possibilities for the personal development of children and young people with impaired hearing and to support the development of spiritual and cultural values and traditions of people with impaired hearing in our society.
The authors present their works in oil, acryl, aquarelle and print in the Salon of the Nitra Gallery. The exhibition is thematically diverse – from landscape painting, and urban motives to figurative compositions. The participating authors allow viewers to immerse in their emotional world where one can find joy of life and creation, not the silence.
Before the exhibition opening the opening of another exhibition, presenting the art works of children with impaired hearing will be opened in the Nitra City Hall at 10.00 a.m. the same day.
The Nitra Gallery and the civic association EFFETA have participated in the organization of the International Culture Festival for People with Impaired Hearing in the Name of St. Francis de Sales in Nitra since 2002.
